| If Dr. Nandedkar does not take your insurance, she is happy to provide you with her office notes at no extra charge so that you may submit them to your insurance company for reimbursement for yourself. She cannot submit to an insurance carrier with whom she is not credentialed. If she does take your insurance but you require a referral to be seen then this does not apply. YOU MUST HAVE THE REFERRAL or you cannot be seen. Please understand that this is due to our contractual obligations with the HMO component of your insurance (Aetna is a prime example). The insurance company has decreed that you cannot be seen without a referral and Dr. Nandedkar may not see you unless you have one. It is a violation of the contract with the insurance carrier to do so. A word about Aetna...many of their plans have confusing names and restrictive rules that are difficult to follow. To the best of our knowledge based on multiple conversations with Aetna Insurance company we take only the following: Aetna Select (referrals required-No Out of Network benefits) Open Access- Aetna Select- (no referrals needed) Aetna Choice POS II (Aetna Health Fund) (no referrals needed) Managed Choice (MC)- (Has out of Network benefits but referral encouraged) Aetna Open Access Managed Choice - (No referral needed) Elect Choice EPO or EC-(referrals required- No out of Network benefits) Aetna Open Access- Elect Choice- (No referrals needed) Open Choice PPO- (no referrals needed) Traditional Choice (No referrals needed) National Advantage Program (NAP)- No PCP selection required and no referrals needed) Aetna Affordable Health Choices PPO (No referrals needed) Aetna Affordable Health Choices (Indemnity Plan) (No referrals needed) WE DO NOT TAKE all Aetna HMO (see above and below) Please note that Aetna managed care and EPO require a referral. We absolutely cannot see you and then bill the insurance company later, nor can you submit for reimbursement.
